About the Artist

CJ Worlein is a native of the Pacific Northwest, and an award-winning artist who works in the medium of artist-grade colored pencil. CJ is Membership director for the national Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA).

She served as president of CPSA's Portland District Chapter 201 from 2008 to 2011, has been its webmaster since 2006, and is also currently handling membership responsibilities for the chapter.

She specializes in portraits, and strives to capture not only the likeness of her subjects, but their personality and spirit as well. To her, as the proverb says, the eyes are truly the window to the soul. She often receives comments that the subjects in her paintings look as though they will turn at any moment and speak.

CJ most recently received the CIPPY Award and Best of Show at the 19th Annual CPSA International Exhibition held in Dallas (2011) for her portrait The Sisters. This painting also received the Best of Show award at the CPSA Portland District Chapter 201 colored pencil show held earlier in the year. She also received the Best of Show award at the Portland DC 201 show held in 2010 for her portrait Patty. Patty also received both the Patrons' Choice and People's Choice awards at the 2011 Beaverton Arts Commission Visual Arts Showcase.

CJ welcomes inquiries about commissioning a portrait.
